Experts discuss MySpace issues Sarah H. Wright, News Office What is MySpace and what is the controversy over it? Jenkins: Boyd:  There is a very different point of view about MySpace: the point of view that  MySpace has benefited teenagers. Boyd suggests, “MySpace provides a fertile ground for  identity development and cultural integration” (Wright par. 9).  MySpace is a place where  teenagers can express their feelings and learn more about themselves. By creating their circle of  friends online, they can identify themselves within the community. Teen mentors believe  MySpace is a window in which they can see teenagers’ issues. Teen mentors use MySpace to  understand youth better and be able to help them in a more positive way. The study executed by  Rosen also concluded Myspace usage resulted in “less shyness, more creativity, [and] more  honesty online” (Rosen 3).
