Celeste Chavez Felicia Head Armando Gomez-Farias Group Presentation “Civil Engineering: Egyptian Dum Dum’s” 1.- Define your field: Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings. Civil Engineering has several sub-disciplines: environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, municipal/urban, water resources, materials, coastal, and construction. Around the world, there are many amazing structures that past civil engineers left for us to admire. The Great Pyramid of Giza, located in Egypt, was built in 2560 B.C. as the tomb of Emperor Khufu. The Parthenon was a temple of the Greek goddess Athena, built in the 5 th century B.C. The Appian Way was a roman road built for the transportation of military supplies.
