Zisneer’s thesis states that main pressures working on college students today are very harmful to the individuals themselves and society. Each pressure seems to work against one another making it almost impossible to deal with these pressures. On a social level, the examples Zisneer gives states that being too concerned with one area makes it difficult to get jobs which also puts the ultimate economy under pressure. There are four college pressure working on students: 1. Economic pressures A. the need for a job to pay off college debt after graduating from college B. students often get part time jobs. C. students are more concerned with how to get into law school or med school than how the world is D. they are not well – rounded because they are not willing to take risks 2. parental pressure A. students do not choose classes they would enjoy because parents pressure them to do areas that are “pre-rich” 3. peer pressure A.
