In a computing system, risk management is the recognition, consequences, and assessment of risk to a computer’s assets, and developing strategies to manage and protect them. Carey School of Busines Computer Applications & Information Technology A hacker is often someone who attempts to evade or disable a computer’s security measures, and then steals computer resources at their leisure. An unsecure computer is extremely easy to breach. Many times these computers are connected to the Internet, so they receive emails with malicious attachments, like viruses, worms, and malware. An intranet is a businesses’ private version of the Internet that works the same way as the Internet, but is confined within the business. A firewall is specialized hardware and software working together that insures that only authorized personnel and employees within a business can use their Intranet. Any communications in or out of an intranet pass through a special security computer called a proxy server. An intranet can contain financial information human resources policies and Arizona State University W. P. Carey School of Busines Computer Applications & Information Technology contain financial information, human resources policies and procedures, specialized accounting systems, research and development secrets, etc.
