Developmental Model Underlying assumption. . individuals with disabilities can acquire skills in numerous areas- they just need more “training” and practice to develop their skills. Principle of Normalization (Wolfensberger, 1972)- individuals with disabilities have the right to a normalized life. “Continuum of Services” model and curricula tracking and systematic instruction. Individuals would move up (or down) levels based on performance As persons moved up the continuum they became more integrated into mainstream society (McDonnell, Hardman & McDonnell, 2003).
