Ethnic Groups and Discrimination In my own personal life I am only a third generation Italian and my great grandparents were from Sicily and Naples and immigrated to the United States in the early nine-teen hundreds. Once arriving in the United States they faced things like prejudice for being Italian and not speaking English. Like most states in the early nineteen hundreds my family was segregated living in a little Italy style part of town. My great grandparents were merchants at the local market place selling fresh produce and becoming well know in the community for always having the freshest produce in the area. Things like dual labor market, environmental justice issues, affirmative action, redlining, double jeopardy, institutional discrimination, and the glass ceiling, walls, or escalator were not present as long as they did business in the Italian community. If there is one thing that my people stayed true to from the old country it was that are people stick together and try to keep the money in their own community.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
