Checkpoint: Conservation and Preservation This video brings up a valid debate between conservation and preservation and how conservation is the strict protection for the land, rivers, trees, and wild life. Preservation is keeping this alive to a certain extent but still disturbing the natural habitat in order to extract oil and gas. I understand the that we as a nation need to become independent when it comes to natural gas and oil supply, but I also understand the need to keep our very scarce natural wildlife in an unaltered state. I am with the people who say that they need their land to enjoy nature and find peace away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. There are not enough places that have been completely untouched by the industrial revolution. Seeing people raise horses and live stock and enjoy fresh water streams along with camping and seeing a sky full of stars with rows of mountains in the background seem much more enjoyable than oil rigs and pipelines....
