HINDUISM PAPER 2 HINDUISM PAPER Hinduism is a religion of the Indian subcontinent the world’s third largest religion. Religions such as Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism were developed in a unified religious system. It is categorized as if they were a single tradition. Applied to the people who were living by the Indus River. The foreigners introduced the name to the British census-taking in the nineteenth century. It is the oldest living religion in the world today. Hinduism also referred to as Santana Dharma is a variation of numerous Indian religious ways that have been categorized together. It is composed of specific verbal formulas sacred chants and cared actions used by priests to invoke the breath of all existence. Brahman which is the Absolute Supreme Reality. Brahmanism is the first phase of Hinduism religion of the priests or Brahmans. They performed the Vedic sacrifice with the Gods and, the Cosmos. This faith is characterized by the multiplicity of deities. Hindu deities are the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva - creator, preserver and destroyer respectively. They worship spirits, trees, animals and even planets. They also believe that karma
