There is a difference between House members and Senators, but not really much of one. The only difference is that the Senate races still overwhelmingly favor the incumbent, but not by as reliable a margin as House races. 3. The House incumbent has $400,284,408, which is a very large money advantage over the challenger. 4. The Senate incumbent has $185,269,992 money advantage over a challenger. 5. In the House, an Open Seat candidate raises $817,584 compared to a challenger. In the Senate, Open Seat candidates raise $1,416,389 dollars more money than a challenger. 6. Large individual contributors are the leading source of campaign contributions when you look at all four types of candidates. 7. The percentage of the US Over-18 population that contributed the maximum amount of $200+ to a candidate was 0.0% 8.
