 6/21/11 Global Influence ± The main focus of JVUF remains local, HOWEVER… ± Urban farming in America has global effects.   ± Much of the produce that is shipped to America has actually  been grown and managed in other countries.   ± This is a HUGE problem because it involves taking land that  impoverished countries need for producing their own  vegetables.   ± As a result, the industrial farming leaves the soil devoid of  many essential nutrients to the point where it is no longer  good for farming.  This increases the poverty level in that  region.
