Smoke Signals Synopsis Two young Indian boys named Thomas and Victor decide to make a trip from their reservation. Thomas and Victor differ greatly. Thomas is nerdy and constantly telling stories people don’t want to hear. Victor on the other hand is tough and strongly dislikes Victor. Thomas’ parents died in a fire when Thomas was just a baby. However, Thomas was rescued from the fire by Arnold, Victor’s father. Victor and Thomas are grown up now and Arnold has since moved away from the reservation. Victor learns of the death of his father and must make a trip to collect his remains. Thomas offers to pay for the journey as long as he can come along, and Victor accepts. They start their trip taking buses from state to state. Victor and Thomas greatly and Thomas seems to get on Victors nerve all the time. Victor at time comes off rude, while Thomas seems to be too trusting and friendly. After a very long journey, they finally reach Arnold’s home. It is here they meet Arnold’s neighbor Suzy. Suzy tells Victor a lot about his father which he didn’t know. Victor originally thought that of his father as a person who abandoned him and that it was it was his own fault. However, Suzy informs Victor that his father was a kind man who helped her and loved Victor greatly and talked of him all the time. On the way back to the reservation there is an accident and a drunken man tries to put the blame on the two boys. The boys are brought into the police station for questioning, however are released.
