John Bieler 3/17/08 SPD 126 Relationship Questions: Smoke Signals 1. Victor exhibits a wide range of emotions while Thomas is usually upbeat except in one instance. Victor seems to be an upbeat type of guy at the beginning of the movie and is constantly bothered by Thomas. But after he hears of his father’s death Thomas believes Victor seems to be feeling sorry for himself. But for the most part Victor had a wide range of emotions from calm and cool to very angry. On the other hand Thomas was always happy and insightful except after the car accident where he gets mad. 2. Thomas most likely learned his “feeling rules” from his grandmother. Since Thomas lost both his parents in a fire, Thomas must of learned his feeling rules from his grandmother. For example, when Victor comes to the door both Thomas and his grandma get excited. Furthermore, Victor probably learned his “feeling rules” from his mother. Victor and his mother probably had a lot of strong feelings about Victor’s father leaving them. 3.
