Chapter 3 Findings 3.1 To investigate the respondents’ opinion on IPhone 3Gs and Nokia N97 3.1.1 The brand of mobile phone or smart phone used by respondents Figure3.1 The brand of mobile phone that respondents currently using. Figure 3.1 shows the brand of mobile phone that respondents currently using. Based on the data collected, 53% (16) of the respondents are currently using Sony Ericsson. This brand is chosen by most of the respondents because most of them are students and price of phones of this brand are just around RM400-RM900. It is more affordable for students. Example of Sony Ericsson mobile phones, such as K810, W550, W910, W980, W580 and others. Secondly, 30% (9) of respondents are currently using Nokia. The reason of respondents use this brand of mobile phones is because the battery of Nokia phones are more durable than others. Thus, they will consider this brand first if they want to buy mobile phones. Thirdly , 10% (3) of respondents are currently using other brands, such as HTC , Motorola, Samsung and others. In contrast, there are only 7% (2) of respondents who are currently using iPhone. The reason for these two respondents is because the function of touch screen, which the sensitivity is higher than other brands. Lastly, there are no respondents who currently using Blackberry. As a conclusion, most of the people will like to use the phones of Sony Ericsson, as the prices are much more affordable. 3.2 The reasons why respondents are not using smart phones Figure 3.2 The reasons why respondents are not using smart phones. Figure 3.2 shows none of the respondents choose ‘don’t like the products’. It is because the respondents like the products but cannot afford to buy it.

Meanwhile, 17 of respondents say that smart phones are expensive. The price for N97 and iphone is around RM2600.Respondents do not have their own purchasing power yet. This is the main reason because our respondents are still students. As such, expensive is the most important reason why they do not purchase the products. 1 of the respondents choose others.
