EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT 2 Upon employment within the Air Force as a Department of Defense civilian employee, I was required to sign an employment agreement. This employment agreement outlines the duties and responsibilities I am required to uphold as a federal civilian employee. The employment agreement also outlines the duties and responsibilities that the Air Force has as employer. This document is very detailed and explains every aspect of employment within the Air Force. There are several sections of the employment agreement which detail employee rights, employer rights, the Privacy Act, Freedom of information Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, information protection, and many other topics. It clearly outlines the specific details of each topic and is relatively straight forward. It is important that the Air Force has clearly identified these items in the employment agreement in order to provide fair and consistent application of the rules and regulations which govern its day to day operations. In addition to the employment agreement which I signed upon employment, I was also required to sign other documents such a mobility agreement, which are a condition of my employment. The Air Force has very strict rules for information protection which is important to ensure the data and information which it collects, analyzes, and disseminates does not fall into the wrong hands. Some information which the Air Force uses could be very harmful to the United States military if the data was obtained by enemies of the United States. Therefore, in order to protect the information which it uses, the Air Force has several systems in place to protect the information it uses. Because of the sensitive nature of the data the Air Force uses, it is vital to protect it. It is in the best interest of the Air Force, the United States government, and the citizens of this country to have a functional information protection system in place.
