Why does a motherboard sometimes support more than one system bus speed? A.) To support a number of processors and memory that differs in bus speed. The old answer does not address the question and is irrelevant because no Processor connects directly to the South Bridge. The South Bridge connects to the processor through the North Bridge. 2.) Why don’t all buses on a motherboard operate at the same speed? A.) Again different components operate at different speeds, which are also controlled by the bridges. 3). When you turn off the power to a computer at night, it loses the date, and you must renter it each morning. What is the problem and how do you solve it? A.) Your CMOS battery is dead and you need to replace it. If you are using default settings reboot with a new battery and instruct setup to restore default settings.
