TYPES OF PAINTINGS 2 Types of paintings Each one of these paintings is very unique in its own way on how it was painted. The first painting of Napoleon uses a variety of bright and dark colors and precise lines. Some think that Napoleon posed for this portrait himself, but he actually didn’t. I think the artist did a great job with portraying Napoleon without him being there in person. The time this painting was created reflects the time frame and century. From just looking at this painting, one can feel that Napoleon was a person of importance and a public figure. This painting is part of the Neoclassicism movement, which began in the 1760s in the 1780s and 90s, and it lasted until the 1840s-50s. This type of painting usually took form of an emphaisi on austere linear design in the depiction of classical themes and subject matter, using archaeologically correct settings amd costumes. I believe this painting reflects this type of movement because of the importance of
