PSY361 Personality Theory Week 1_Assignment 4 Research Techniques - Interviews For this interview I interviewed my girlfriend’s brother, Robert, who just got back from Afghanistan. 1. What word best describes who you understand yourself to be? His answer for this was short, sweet, and to the point. The word was Tough. He did not elaborate at all. As a soldier he would need this attitude, and as a man he would be expected to feel this way. Society norms tell us that most men think they are tough, and other things that give us an idea of the expectations of what “manly” is. 2. What is your most important memory of childhood? Robert told me a story about his family vacations every summer. The family would take a trip to a cabin owned by their grandparents in Oklahoma. Robert had fond memories from those vacations, and one time in particular he told me about when he kissed the first girl he kissed. This does not match his answer for the first question.
