First Aid – R.I.C.E . R est – stop all participation and seek further  medical attention if necessary. C ompression – apply pressure to injured area  using elastic wraps/ bandages or athletic tape. 2 separate roles: companion to icing the injury maintains injured structure  Why is compression important?   compression aids in reducing swelling and the effects  of swelling.  E levation – in an ideal situation, raise the injured  area at or above heart level.
