Dustin Johnston MIS 388.05 July 23, 2010 In May of 2010, Apple the technology giant announced a whole new way to advertise electronically. Apple calls its new technology IAd. IAd is a new mobile technology that will place advertisements inside of Apples increasingly large store of IPod, IPhone and IPad Apps. IAd’s will reportedly cost about one million dollars, more if you want to obtain an ad early in the technology’s life. Apple says that the new IAd’s will be placed in existing apps along with new apps using technology to place related ads with what the purpose of the advertisement is. Application developers for the Ipod series of products will be receiving about 60% of the advertising money while Apple itself will be taking in the minor share of about 40% of those profits. With more than 85 million Iphones and Ipads having been sold, and the average user spending at least 30 minuets of their time on their respective devises this is an enormous
