Dustin Johnston Dr. Ruiz Eco 233 January 29, 2008 Extra Credit; Short bio’s Alan Greenspan - Alan Greenspan was born in 1926 to a Jewish family in New York City, where he attended NYC and received a B.S. in Economics in 1948 and a M.A. in Economics in 1950 before eventually gaining his Ph.D. in Economics from NYC in 1977. Ten years later Alan Greenspan became chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve under President Ronald Reagan. Alan went on to serve as the longest appointed Chairman of the FED when in 2004 President George W. Bush nominated him to his fifth term; a year later Greenspan was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom the highest award a civilian can receive in the United States.

Ben Bernanke received his B.A. in Economics in 1975 from Harvard University, followed by his Ph.D. in Economics from MIT in 1979. After which he taught at Stanford Graduate School of Business for six years before becoming a visiting professor at various universities. In 2005 Ben Bernanke became the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, believed to be one of the few me that could fill Alan Greenspan’s shoes. He is however much less rigid than Alan Greenspan being reluctant to comment on political issues....
