Dustin Johnston February 8, 2008 GBA 281 Dr. Matthews Presidential GBA short essay As president of the United States I will support the latest scientific data in relation to global warming. I propose that all countries around the world work together to implement these changes recommended in the UN commission report. We must accept possible short-term economic costs and job losses in the fossil fuel sectors of the economy. However with these draw backs come many more advantages, including new jobs in the production of solar, hydroelectric and hydrogen power. We must think of not only the futures of our children, and our grand children but the continuation of the entire human race. Today the United States is the leading consumer of petroleum and other fossil fuels more than seventy-five percent of our economy is based on the false assumption that our supply of fossil fuels are never ending and that the use of these fuel sources have no ill effect on our planet or our health.
