Dustin Johnston Wasting Millions of Dollars; Horrible magazine advertisements. Companies all over the world spend billions of dollars every year to catch the eye, make people laugh, or perpetually repeat their name in hopes that they will gain more customers. They do this by appealing to your head, heart or pocketbook so that you have a reason to buy their toilet paper instead of their competitors. To justify all the money that they spend on advertising an ad must first catch your attention with either a “catch line”, bright and vibrant colors or something that appeals to your underlying physiology like sex. In every one of these areas these ads fail horribly. First, the both ads are composed of simple black and white words placed in seemingly meaningless statements that have nothing to do with the product. Even when using colors to entice a feeling in someone you must use more lively colors such as red to impassionate or blue to mollify. Not neutral colors like black and white. When black and
