38 Distribution networks A corporate ladder network that combines 4 identical loads Z L into a single equivalent input impedance Z L is shown in the margin. In this network 6 diferent quarter-wave trans- Formers with arbitrary but identical characteris- tic impedances Z o are utilized. You should be able to compute the load volt- ages V L in the network in terms oF input volt- age V in applied across the input port by using the current-Forcing Formula For the quarter-wave transFormer introduced earlier on. Z L Z L Z L Z L Z in = Z L Loads Quarter- wave tx’s Quarter- wave tx’s All quarter-wave tx’s have the same Z_o Input impedance is the same as load impedance By symmetry, the loads absorb equal avg power, a quarter of the input power each. CORPORATE LADDER NETWORK Input port IF, in a corporate ladder network, Z L = Z o , then TL segment lengths connected to each Z L can be varied at will without afecting the input impedance Z L = Z o (why?).
