ENC1102 July 16, 2009 Anthony Nappi A Streetcar Named Desire Response Blanche was a woman trying to find herself in a time where odds were against her and in her case, people were against her. Blanche rides into town on a streetcar named Desire then transfers to one named Cemeteries and arrives at a street named Elysian Fields which symbolize the stages of her life that caused her to get exiled from her hometown to going insane after living with her sister for some time. These three names are important because they are directly connected to Blanche’s life before and after it pummeled down which eventually led to Blanche losing her sanity. The first streetcar Blanche gets into was the one named Desire which symbolizes the desires she had that caused to sleep with numerous men which ended her social status. Blanche’s desire to be young again and to feel loved again led her to start sleeping around with many men to temporarily get those feelings back. This conversation between Blanche and Mitch show how Blanche felt about her doings,
