CHAPTER FOURFINDINGS4.1 IntroductionThe purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of utilizing material fromYouTube on LOTS and HOTS in reading comprehension and motivation among Thaistudents. This chapter presents the findings from data collected and analyzed based onthree measures: pre-test and post-test, questionnaire, and semi-structured interviews.The quasi-experimental design was used in this study to determine the effects of usingdifferent types of teaching methods to teach English reading comprehension. Twogroups of first year students were selected to participate in this study. TheExperimental Group was taught using YouTube as an additional tool and the ControlGroup was taught using the conventional method. This study was done over a periodof eight weeks.This chapter is divided into four parts. The first part reports the steps used to collectthe quantitative data from the pre-test, post-test and questionnaire. All quantitative datawas collected from both the Experimental Group and the Control Group and analyzedusing SPSS for windows version 22.0. Secondly, this section provides the qualitativedata analysis. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were carried out to collectqualitative data to support this study. The qualitative data was analyzed using opencoding and axial coding and then grouped into themes known as Emerging Themes.
