CHAPTER FOUR FINDINGS 4.1 Introduction The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of utilizing material from YouTube on LOTS and HOTS in reading comprehension and motivation among Thai students. This chapter presents the findings from data collected and analyzed based on three measures: pre-test and post-test, questionnaire, and semi-structured interviews. The quasi-experimental design was used in this study to determine the effects of using different types of teaching methods to teach English reading comprehension. Two groups of first year students were selected to participate in this study. The Experimental Group was taught using YouTube as an additional tool and the Control Group was taught using the conventional method. This study was done over a period of eight weeks. This chapter is divided into four parts. The first part reports the steps used to collect the quantitative data from the pre-test, post-test and questionnaire. All quantitative data was collected from both the Experimental Group and the Control Group and analyzed using SPSS for windows version 22.0. Secondly, this section provides the qualitative data analysis. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were carried out to collect qualitative data to support this study. The qualitative data was analyzed using open coding and axial coding and then grouped into themes known as Emerging Themes.
