Herbicide; MMM TASTY Cordell 1 Blake Cordell Todd Handle March 4, 2008 Introduction The purpose of the lab experiment was to determine the percentage of water in the substance herbicide. To calculate how much water was in the herbicide the experimenters must mass the tube and then add herbicide. Then they must mass the tube with the herbicide and determine how much herbicide is in the tube. Once the masses are calculated then using the Bunsen burner, heat the tube for approximately five minutes. Once the substance turns white, turn off the Bunsen burner and measure the new mass of the substance. To calculate the percentages of water subtract the original herbicide mass by the final herbicide mass. The trials conducted by the experiment provided the information that there was 34.75 percent water in the substance. Materials 1) Bunsen Burner 2) Test tube holder 3) Herbicide 4) Test tube 5) Mass Scale 6) Test tube rack Procedure 1) Get appropriate safety gear 2) Mass the tube and use same tube
