Describe and analyze the classical theoretical model of political parties and point out the differences between this model and the two American political parties. 2. Describe in detail five functions of American political parties and explain how or by which elements of the parties each function is implemented. 3. Write an essay in which you outline the principal organizational and functional elements in a presidential campaign. Analyze the purpose and importance of each element. 4. Write a detailed, analytical essay in which you discuss the relevant considerations in deciding to run or not to run for the nomination of one of the principal American political parties. Be sure to include a discussion of the differences between retail and wholesale candidates. 5.
