Caleb Jones HY 101 Professor Nichols March 25, 2010 The Aztecs The word “Aztec” refers to an ethnic group in Mexico during the 12 th through 15 th centuries. Their history follows a path over many years, from a nomadic people to a glorious empire and to their destruction in the early 16 th century. The Aztecs were the biggest demographic in Mesoamerica, and left behind many contributions that have stayed with us today. There are still many examples of the Aztec’s architecture that still exists today and bears the original names. The temples that the Aztecs built were very extravagant. They would not destroy temples they would add on to them and make them more extravagant. There are temples that scientists have found to be built over six times. The Aztecs were an ancient civilization without animals for transportation or any means of communication. They established an intricate system of roads that allowed safe travel
