WORKING IN A SCHOOL2important that we know what is expected of us in these environments and how to workwell with others in different roles. Currently, I work as a behavior technician and mostlywork in-home so I do not have the experience of working in a school. So doing my ownresearch is going to be crucial to successfully working in the school setting. I have tounderstand that working in a school will include collaborating with many otherpersonalities. Being aware of my personality style will also be helpful to effectivelycommunicate with others in the collaborative environment. As a BCBA, my role can bedifferent depending on where I was hired. I could be working from the district of theschool or working through an agency. Although my responsibility is the same, I mayhave different ways of being able to perform my role and either could limit/extendresources from within the school. I must be aware and be prepared for any of thesedifferent aspects that effect my role before going into the school setting.Preparing to Enter the SchoolI can enter the school through many different avenues. The school could havehired me directly or I could be from an outside agency coming into the school. I mustconsider the roles of the the educators as well as others involved in the collaboration.
