NAME: Roshni Sheth FILM: Control Room 1. What is the goal of the film? What do you believe are the director’s motives and what is the message he/she is sending? The goal of the film is to show the American people that their news may not be as reliable as they think. The director is trying to inform the audience that American news always contains biased information, at least to some extent, and that one must do research before forming opinions on any political or world issues. 2. What ethical argument may refute the message? Why? An ethical argument that may refute the message of the film is that to viewers that are not Americans or even some that are Americans, the film portrays the American news as almost ridiculous and Al Jazeera as the best source of news. The American soldier in the control room is always complaining that Al Jazeera shows news that puts America down, which makes it seem like Americans are unable to recognize when America has made any kind of mistake. However, this is obviously not true of all Americans. 3. Briefly describe the plot of the film.
