Results and Discussion The preparation of acetanilide proved 0.737 grams of acetanilide. In the second part of the lab, 0.16 grams of nitroaniline was isolated after the recrystallization process. The product (nitroaniline) did not melt, even though the Mel-Temp device was heated well over 200 ºC. Because of this, it remained undetermined whether the product displayed ortho, meta, or para addition.
