Recorded at West Lake Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California, it was produced by Mi- chael Jackson as well as Quincy Jones. Thriller continues to feature numerous genres such as funk, R&B, disco, soul and pop that were also demonstrated in Jacksons fifth, most recent and commercially successful album Off The Wall. However, in this album Jackson also includes su- pernatural and rock influences. Already becoming increasingly popular, Michael Jacksons career sky-rocketed into fur- ther success; he was soon known as the leading pop star in the late 20th century. With this status, Jackson had many opportunities like appearing on MTV or attending meetings at the White House; furthermore, his popularity also helped break racial barriers.
