[Co(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ (aq) is a clear pink color. b. [CoCl 4 ] 2- (aq) is a clear blue color. c. [Cu(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ (aq) is a clear turquoise color. d. [CuBr 4 ] 2- (aq) is a dark brown color. e. [Cu(NH 3 ) 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] 2+ (aq) is a clear dark blue color. f. [Cu(OH) 2 ](s) is a cloudy white blue color. 2. Addition of water: a. According to LeChateliers Principle if a chemical system at equilibrium experiences a change in concentration , temperature , volume , or partial pressure , then the equilibrium shifts to counteract the imposed change and a new equilibrium is established, so adding water affects the concentration of all the chemical species which are involved in the equilibrium. Changing the concentration of a product or reactant will shift the equilibrium to the side that would reduce that change in concentration. As long as the total number of species on the left is not the same as on the right, the position of equilibrium will be changed. b. Examples for the equilibrium: I. [Co(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ (aq) + 4Cl- (aq) [CoCl 4 ] 2- (aq) + 6H 2 O(liq) In this equilibrium reaction, if more water is added then the reaction will shift to the reactant side, so if we are to add a species to the overall reaction, the reaction will favor the side opposing the addition of the species. Likewise, the reaction will favor the side opposing the addition of the species....
