When the clear BaCl 2 · 2H 2 O was added, the reaction formed a precipitate. The mixture changed color to a very cloudy, pure white color. b. CuSO 4 + 2NaHCO 3 Cu(HCO 3 ) 2 + Na 2 SO 4 The CuSO 4 · 5 H 2 O started out as a clear, blue liquid. When the clear, NaHCO 3 was added the mixture formed a precipitate. The precipitate turned cloudy, light blue. It was not consistent throughout. There were some spots of clear liquid, and after stirring, there were still some spots. After the precipitate sat out for a time of five minutes it formed a cloudy, light blue shape in the middle of the well. c. Cu(NO 3 ) 2 +2 NH 4 OH Cu(OH) 2 +2NH 4 NO 3 The clear, light blue Cu(NO 3 ) 2 · 2.5H 2 O and the clear NH 4 OH formed a cloudy, light blue precipitate. d. Cu(NO 3 ) 2 + 2NaOH Cu(OH) 2 +2NaNO 3 When clear NaOH liquid was added to the clear, light blue Cu(NO 3 ) 2 · 2.5H 2 O a precipitate formed that was cloudy, light blue.
