Faculty Guide for Small Group Wednesday February 23, 2011 Homelessness Learning Objectives 1. Students will become aware that homelessness is a problem in the US and right here in Alachua County. 2. Students will become aware that many patients may be close to becoming homeless at any time and that homelessness illustrates the most severe form of healthcare disparity. 3. Students will learn what issues homeless people and other very poor people face so that they can more effectively diagnosis and treat them. Learning Activities 1. Students should spend the first ten minutes writing a REAP based on the topic of homelessness or the people portrayed on the panel. I encourage faculty to use this time to do a REAP writing too; you will discover how useful it can be in helping to clarify your thoughts. Use this as prompt for a general discussion of reactions to the panel. Reminder of REAP questions: REACTION: What is your reaction to this patient?
