Minerals to know for second exam This list is a subset of the overall mineral list that will be fair game on the second mid- term exam. Remember, for the ones with asterisk (*), you should know their stoichiometery. The other minerals, you just need to know what group they occur in and their major cations other than Si or Al. By major cations, I mean those cations that are included in their chemical formula in the back of your book. Cations that occur only in trace amounts do not count and will be counted as incorrect.
