ACG 4133C FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING Summer 2011 INSTRUCTOR: Charles L. McDonald, Ph.D., CPA OFFICE HOURS: Monday and Wednesday, period 3, GER 312 TEXT: Intermediate Accounting , Spiceland, Sepe, and Nelson, Sixth Edition, McGraw-Hill Irwin; and three chapters from Baker, Lemke, King and Jeffrey, Advanced Financial Accounting , Eighth Edition McGraw-Hill Irwin.) COURSE OBJECTIVES: The objectives of this course are: Understand, create and analyze financial statements based upon generally accepted accounting principles. Apply mathematical concepts and technology to interpret, understand and communicate quantitative data. Apply the conceptual framework, economic reasoning and generally accepted accounting principles to solve accounting problems. Effectively produce, interpret and analyze written text, oral messages and multimedia presentations used in business. PREREQUISITES: Students must have satisfactorily completed ACG 3482C and FIN 3403. GRADES: Grades will be based on two mid-term examinations, a final examination and performance on lab assignments (including participation). Each midterm examination will be worth 100 points. The final exam will be worth 120 points. Total points available for the lab score will be 80 points. Students may review their exams during the week
