The MessageIn today’s day and age there is a lot less stigmatism regarding the sexuality of older people than several years ago when a lot of us were younger. The reason for this could be that the media has started to portray older people more as sexual beings than in the past. Another reason could be due to the fact that we ourselves are older now and stillconsider ourselves to be sexual beings. The media does tend to have a huge influence on our perceptions of how things are in the real world. So when the media is mainly sexualizing young people as opposed to showing older people, which is what we base ourideas off of. The message from the cartoon is that impotence or erectile dysfunction is a normal part of the aging process. However, there are several issues that can cause this issue that have nothing to do with age itself. There are medical reasons such as, heart disease, high blood pressure, surgical complications, hormonal imbalance (testosterone orestrogen), and diabetes. A lot of those reasons can be treated with medications, but sometimes those medications can also lead to erectile dysfunction. Age, in itself, has noimpact on sexual ability or desire. It is, instead,health problemsthat hinder full sexual activity. Hence the need to enhance our sexual life through experimentation and exploration.
