Creating Graphs & Clipping Layers Preliminary § Review Gorr/Kurland, pages 97-101 and 275-78. § In ArcCatalog, preview : mdtgr2 (table, geography) and examine its metadata (especially ‘Spatial Reference Information’). § In ArcMap, set to store relative path names, set the appropriate coordinate system, and check the map display units. I. Create & Display a Graph § ‘Add Data’: mdtgr2. o If necessary, create a field named ‘RENTERP’ and calculate it: 1) identify and eliminate zero values in HSE_UNITS and RENT_OCC; 2) RENTERP = RENT_OCC / HSE_UNITS; 3) sort RENTERP descending; 4) inspect statistics for RENTERP. o Use the Select Features tool or Select by Attributes to select any five districts. You will graph the percentages of rental occupancy in the five districts and display the graph on the map layout. o Create layer from selected features and name it ‘Selected Districts’ . If you want to save the layer, export it. o
