Xavier Baquero 10-0126 Leadership I Wednesday, May 19 th , 2010 Professor Shindell Lincoln by David Herbert Donald-Book Review If you visit a Borders or Barnes and Nobles store and ask for a book about the life of former President of the United States, they will not be a few, but many books. Nevertheless “Lincoln” by David Herbert Donald would be by far the best choice. Just by looking at the cover, not at its design and picture, but by the name of the authors, it is already a winner. “For Donald had spent most of his life studying the Civil War and teaching it t universities, such as: Princeton, Harvard and Columbia.” 1 “On top of that, Donald has already won two Pulitzer prices for the biographies of Charles Sulmner and Thomas Wolfe. And also Donald’s book, received an outstanding review by Gabor Boritt, an author of the Christian Science Monitor, in which his first sentence was: “ Lincoln by David Herbert Donald is a masterwork. It stands alone among 135 years of Lincoln biographies.” 2 With that said, it is the best book of Abraham Lincoln ever written. “Donald was able to get closer to Lincoln than any author Lincoln follower,
