Module 12 Notes Kinsey Report, 40s and 50s o Biologist at University of Indiana o Wanted to know what people thought, interviewed 18000 about practices o Doesn’t mean you have good estimate of what practices are like o Only able to interview those who were willing to be interviewed o Unique way of asking questions, assumed that everybody had done everything o Led number of people to believe that the subjects were coerced into answering the questions the way he wanted them to Research from last 10 years reflects better estimation o Random sample of population o Make sure it is completely anonymous o Most representative surveys suggest Kinsey reported inflated numbers Masters and Johnson o What physiological responses people experience, how do they describe that experience o Brought subjects in lab setting, hooked up to wires for physiological readings o Studied response cycle o Findings helpful for people with problems o Problems can be divided into the 4 diff phases, exercises can be developed
