“Making Life Changing Decisions: It’s Never Too Late To Break The Cycle” I was 34 years old when I made my life changing decision. There were many things to consider. I had been married and in an abusive relationship for 13 ½ years. My children were 11 and 12. My husband was in the Army and we were stationed in Germany at the time. My mom and dad were 76 yrs old during this time and had been married for over 50 years. They are very traditional and in being such, raised me with the same values. I found it hard to muster the courage to leave my marriage after so many years not knowing what support I would receive from my family. I knew for my sake and the sake of our children that I had to leave him before it was too late. If I didn’t make a change and stand up my children would think that this was an acceptable way to live life. I didn’t want my daughter to think the way her father treated me was
