Our society today is much different from 25 years ago. Years ago the generation believed that children were meant to be seen and not heard. In today’s world this should not be the case. Parents we need to listen to our children. Respect their voice and truly listen!Parents and Teens; Why Listen? In today’s society teenagers are far more outgoing and impulsive than 25 years ago. Today’s society brings about a less modest way of life for today’s teenagers from advertising, television shows, clothing designs, music, videos, the internet, their sexuality and much more. Our older generations didn’t see the changes that our generations have seen and the generation of our children. It is important to not only listen to your teen but to hear what they are saying. With the peer pressures today teens face more and more in the way of decision making. They listen to their friends, to the messages sent in the music they hear, the television shows they watch, the misdirection the internet can potentially provide and when in question, if they can’t ask you, their parent, who will they go to? An open line of communication for a teenager today is critical to their future and success. They
