1. Explain the relevance of the contemporary issue as it relates to the law today; The American Indian Regulatory Statute is a Commerce Clause that grants the federal government the authority to work with American Indian tribes. The IRGA (Indian Gaming Regulatory Act is a statute set forth by the federal government authorizing Native American Indian tribes the ability to maintain gambling operations if the state permits them to do so. These compacts entered into by states allow gambling on Indian reservation lands. The gambling casino revenues provide a large income to members of the tribes who operate them. 2.
