The ethical dilemma in the Quinlan case was the decision to hold that life sustaining medical treatments may be discontinued when the circumstances are deemed appropriate. This provision not only provided that a person has a right to choose whether or not to be on such equipment but if incapacitated the removal of such equipment would not constitute homicide or medical malpractice. b. Cruzan v. Director, Missouri Department of Health The ethical dilemma in this case is in regards to the right to die. She was in a vegetative state and had a feeding tube inserted. The family went back and forth requesting the tube be removed after 4 years. Evidence was eventually provided to the court and they ruled the tube be removed. c.
