 7/7/11 Bulimia is an illness when a person “binges on food or has  regular episodes of significant overeating and feels a loss of  control”. The person then usually uses laxative or vomiting to help  prevent weight gain.  During an average binge, a person is said to eat between 3000  to 5000 calories in one hour.  7/7/11 Bulimics need to feel control over some  aspect of their lives. They need to go through  a cycle to feel control over food. The cycle begins at one point and then  continues around in an uncontrollable cycle.  It is very hard for them to break out the cycle  once they have gotten started and have pulled  themselves deep into it. It eventually  becomes a part of them.  This cycle is very consistent in the way  many bulimics act and think.
