Short Cases-Jessica and Bruce Michelle Nolan February 18, 2011 There are a few ethical issues in this situation. The first issue is that Jessica is dating Bruce. Not only do they have a personal relationship in the workplace, it appears that Jessica also reports directly to Bruce. If I was the manager in this dilemma it would be tough. I would begin by talking to Bruce. I would document that I went to him and I would ask that another peer (not Jessica) also sit in on the meeting. I would let him know that while I do not mind helping because everyone has personality conflicts, I can not continue to take on the work load based on the rudeness of Jessica. I would ask that the situation be dealt with. If this situation was not handled appropriately and I did not begin to see the change in a fair amount of time, I would then go back to Bruce and say to him, “I came to you with this problem. It has gotten worse or no better. I would like to schedule a meeting with you, the original witness to the meeting and the manager of Bruce (or HR).” I would let him know that this is not personal and I am in no way trying to get anyone in
