Axia College Material Appendix A Midterm Exam Access the Week Four Electronic Reserve Readings located under the materials section of your student website. Read this week’s Electronic Reserve Readings. Write a paragraph of approximately 100 words for each section listed below. 1. Using the critical thinking skills you have gained so far and referring to the materials provided for this assignment, identify two possible strategies that Thomas Hutchinson or Samuel Adams likely used to develop and improve their thinking as those historical events unfolded prior to taking a stand and acting according to their beliefs. According the research of our reserve readings and the critical thinking skills we have gained so far in this class, I believe that Thomas Hitchinson and Samuel Adams used critical thinking strategies to improve their thinking when they were faced with the issues that led up the Boston Tea Party and the American Revolution. I think that these men firstly put their beliefs aside to see both sides of the dispute and try to find a proper solution for their problems. I also think that Thomas Hutchinson looked to see what the best decision would be for colonies and followed the path that he saw was fit to not only help them be free but still have help from the British. 2. Explain the importance of building a foundation for critical and creative thinking when evaluating historical events such as the Boston Tea Party. We must build a good foundation for critical thinking in order to be able to evaluate our thoughts and actions, as well as the actions of others in history and in the present. Building a good foundation of critical thinking helps us to be able to find the truth in what we read of see so that we are not blinded by the lies. We are then able to see beyond the bias and distortions that we find when we are misinformed of a situation. When we use this while evaluating historical events it will help us to learn the truth about our founding fathers and their actions. 3.
