When writing a persuasive essay, the author is trying to persuade the audience to follow the author’s own personal point of view. A very effective way to do so is to use compare and contrast paragraphs showing the positive and negative sides to each side of the debate. This will make the essay more effective and less biased to the audience. I did use this technique in my persuasive essay to show how credit card companies advertising on a campus can be a bad thing, however in my opinion the advertisement could be an effective way for a college student to learn better responsibility when on his or her own in life right after high school. I feel that using these types of paragraphs to show the positive and negative sides to this debate will show that I am not biased to one side, but will show the reasons I have chosen one side over the other. This way my readers will be able to understand why I believe that credit card companies should not be banned from a college campus and why the decision has back up and research
