Chapter 13 (left over from Exam 1) • What are HeLa cells? and know the history of their origin • Know the different stages of virus replication cycle, at least in details presented on the slides. • Know the life cycle of HIV replication in host cell. • Know the classification of viruses based on their genetic constituent. • Know about the two antigens (surface proteins) found in Influenza virus in relation to antigenic shift and antigenic drift • What are oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes? Chapter 9 • Definition and difference between sterilization, disinfection, decontamination, antisepses and microbiostatic. • Understand the concept of D value in respect to microbial death rate. • Difference between thermal death time and death point. • What is autoclaving and the parameters required for sterilization by this process.
